He established The John Derian Company, Inc. in 1989, and pioneered the trend of decoupage—the art of layering images over a decorative background—to create beautiful works of art. Over the years, Derian’s decoupage art has adorned plates, platters, paperweights, bowls, desk accessories, wall hangings and more. Based in New York City, The John Derian Company operates two boutique stores and a studio in New York City’s East Village. His unique items are also available at select upscale home stores.
In September 2010, John Derian returns to Target with a new collection and fresh perspective on his signature style. The collection is designed with an emphasis on creating functional and practical products for the home. It breathes new life into categories including dinnerware, storage and organization, home décor and stationery. Available for a limited time, the assortment features nearly 100 products and includes home décor items such as decorative trays, wall art and coasters, as well as stationery items including mini journal sets and paper organizers. The collection also features fabric-covered storage bins, and tabletop items including ceramic mugs and melamine dinnerware.
In September 2008, Derian created his first signature accessories collection for Target, including stationery and home décor items, followed by a limited edition holiday assortment later that year, which included gift wrap, ornaments and serving platters.
